Choeng Mon Beach Information Guide
Choeng Mon is a trendy and peaceful beach village up on the north east of the island with close links to both Bophut and Big Buddha. There is a variety of hotels and accommodations available along its impressive beach frontage, and the transfer from Koh Samui International Boutique Airport only takes around ten minutes.
Many resorts convert their beach front areas into dining under the stars restaurants with a heavy dose of romance and charm. There’s plenty of fun to be had in walking along the sands in the evening and choosing a cuisine that suits your taste, whether it is Thai food, Indian Italian or BBQ that you are after – you’ll find it here.
One of the best resorts is Sala Samui, with its beachfront dining and an additional inner restaurant, Pangaea, serving a new style of fusion international cuisine. The White House and Imperial Boat House are nearby, both with decent restaurants and spacious rooms. The entertainment is aimed at a middle aged crowd in the latter two, while Pangaea is for a slightly younger mind set.
There’s an abundance of space here, and so the swimming pools and facilities are generally at a larger scale than those found in other parts of the island. This is good news for anyone travelling with children, and for those who like to make a splash. Salas are set p during the day to offer massages and other spa treatments. Check out the spa menu at each resort and ask for special offers.
The beach is relatively clear of water sports and the like, so you’ll be able to relax at all hours of the day. The water is clear and fun for swimming and the sand is good for running. There are plenty of places to buy ice creams and salads along the beach. Choeng Mon does not have many budget hotels, so it’s worth saving money if you want to stay in this area.
