Koh Samui Sailing Trips Guide & Island Cruise
Samui Sailing Trips is becoming increasingly popular. Koh Samui island has excellent weather conditions for sailing — a good all-year-round breeze that is a solid northeasterly between December and April, and a more challenging strong westerly with the occasional violent gust between May and November. Craft available for a day on the ocean waves include yachts, catamarans and more modest windsurf boards.
A variety of sailing courses and lessons are available on Koh Samui in a variety of boats from Nacra catamarans and Drascombe luggers. Rentals are available on an hourly or daily basis. Sailing safaris are also available and can be tailored to individual tastes. A typical safari will have guests sailing their own catamarans in company with a safety vessel which carries the baggage and supplies, stopping overnight at a variety of resorts on nearby islands.
For a rough guideline to prices, Nacra 450 catamarans cost around 800 Baht per hour or 3000 Baht per day, Drascombe luggers cost 400 Baht per hour or 1500 Baht per day, Macgregor 26 is 6000 Baht per day. Sailing safaris are all inclusive of food and accommodation and cost around 6000 Baht per day. Day trips and overnight tours on the Macgregor 26 are around US$175 including lunch and drinks. The Macgregor 26 overnight US$475 includes two days, with skipper all food, drinks and accommodation at a resort on Koh Phangan.
